"As a Practitioner having worked with many adolescent girls, the group is well developed and targeted at empowering vulnerable girls and teaching them the life skills to make more informed choices and understand the impact they have on the world around them. The workshop and facilitation enables the girls to be treated and feel like young adults and feel valued. It is a privilege to be able to witness change as it happens. The workshop delivery and information is tailored appropriately for the age range (i.e. 12y/o-15y/o) and would be useful to extend the information to older women and mothers so that the empowerment of women in the community continues and opportunities for role modelling within families are created."
Dimitra Dib | Senior Case Manager Child, Youth & Family, The Benevolent Society
"Amie facilitated a skin care and make up session for Leichhardt Council’s Youth Programs. The sessions were well organised, structured and engaged young people in a meaningful way. Her sessions ensured young people are informed of appropriate applications of make-up, skin care and presentation. All her sessions were age appropriate and delivered in a way where young people were educated. Her knowledge and ability to facilitate a successful session is why I would highly recommend Amie to any service or organisation looking to run a make-up and beauty class."
Matthew Balane | Youth & Community Safety Officer, Leichhardt Municipal Council.
"I utilised Project Shine’s services during a School Holiday Program for teenagers. Amie’s Hair Care and Styling workshop was a hit with the girls, teaching them new skills and providing an enjoyable holiday experience at the same time! Amie is great at engaging young people and facilitated the class very well. Each of the participants provided positive feedback, mainly that the workshop was ‘fun’! I will definitely use Project Shine again in future."

"Thank you so much Amie. My daughters absolutely loved the programme and learnt so much from you. Your kindness and wise words really inspired them and they said you are the most beautiful woman inside and out. You are a true Role model for these young ladies."
"My daughter has difficulty in social situations and with communication, which makes meeting new people and making friends quite a struggle. Project Shine was an opportunity for her to meet with a small group of girls and have fun. Her photos look beautiful and show what an amazing experience they all had."
"This was so fun and always interesting, each lesson I learnt something new. Amie was such a great teacher."
"It was great fun, everyone was very easy to talk to. I smiled the whole time and always tell people about what I have learned"
“I’m learning so much”.
“I have done a similar workshop before but it was more childish, so this is better because we are treated like young adults”.
“I don’t usually talk about my thoughts and feelings but I feel comfortable in this space”.
